Unitron hearing aids
Unitron is manufactured by Sonova (Switzerland) who is one of the world’s two largest hearing aid manufacturers by sales. Sonova made up approximately 30% of the world market in 2019.
Unitron’s focus is on aesthetics, comfort, and intuitive functionality. Their overall design philosophy attempts to keep their hearing aid wearers experience at the centre of their innovation processes. They claim to do this by focusing on solving pain points and by providing a sound that enables superior speech understanding. To excel in speech intelligibility during conversation, Unitron has invested in developing the technology now available in the Discover Next platform. This they claim helps people capture the deeper meaning in conversations. The company says that this unique sound technology helps people understand not only who is talking, the direction of their voice, what intonation they’re using, but also what their underlying emotions are. This helps wearers hear better in noisy environments and makes even the softest-spoken people easier to understand. Finally, Unitron works closely with hearing clinics to provide them with tools and training to improve the patients entire hearing care experience.
As well as a full range of behind-the-ear, receiver-in-the-canal, and custom hearing aids, Unitron benefits from its relationship to Phonak via their parent company Sonova. With a unique product offering that allows the flexibility to upgrade to a higher performing device (without having to replace the hearing aid), a regional HQ in Baulkham Hills New South Wales, an international manufacturing facility in South-East Asia, Unitron is a popular and affordable option that we continue to prescribe with great success.
The range of features Unitron has available at each price point is considerable. SoundNav 3.0, Sound Conductor, Spatial Awareness, and SpeechPro all work together on the Discover Next platform to help people hear more clearly and comfortably in every conversation, in every environment. Patients can also choose from speech enhancement, noise reduction, directionality, Bluetooth connectivity, lithium-ion rechargeability with a built in battery, tinnitus relief, excellent water and dust protection (IP rating 68), telecoil, volume and program controls for up to many customisable programs, and a 3-year manufactures warranties. The RemotePlus app provides a means to send feedback to, and receive support from, your Audiologist at A Better Ear. That means consultations and counselling are available, together with hearing aid adjustments, inside or outside the clinic.
In Australia Unitron hearing aids are distributed via independent clinics like A Better Ear, but are also available through the Sonova-owned retail chain, ‘Connect Hearing’.
